What is your favourite thing about the program?

My favourite thing about my history minor was the variety in the courses offered – I got to take history classes on so many different areas of interest, including Canadian history, the history of disease, and the history of alcohol.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the professors the most – I found all my professors to be caring, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to help their students. I will forever cherish the interesting discussions I’ve had with my professors over the years, and have found Carleton’s history professors to be particularly thoughtful and approachable.

What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?

The History of Alcohol by Rod Phillips – this was a really interesting book that I actually loaned out to friends when I was done my course, that looked at history from an interesting lens I had never considered before. It was particularly interesting to read about how alcohol and alcohol consumption has played a huge role, whether positive or negative, in societies throughout time and all over the world.

What’s next for you?

I will be returning to Carleton to pursue a Master’s Degree in Political Management.
