Description of Research:

Sara is currently finishing her second year in the MA in Public History. She also recently completed a summer internship at Library and Archives Canada as a Student Archivist. Her research focuses on Nova Scotia in the 1960s as the province developed and professionalized its tourism industry. She will complete a Major Research Essay on the topic, which analyzes the visual culture of the advertisements created in the time period as well the advertising plans of the province’s advertising agency. As a public historian, her research questions past and present reception of tourism promotion in the province and how this promotion can shape and be shaped by Nova Scotia identity, economy and culture.
