Study permit application deadlines have been created to accommodate International students living in Canada and abroad. It’s important to remember that Immigrant, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) receives thousands of documents every day and that it takes a lot of time to get back to applicants. The ISSO encourages students newly admitted to Carleton and returning students whose study permits have expired, or are about to expire, while they are outside of Canada will to note that the IRCC has made the following commitment: completed study permit applications submitted prior to May 15, 2021, will receive a decision by August 6, 2021.
This date is a crucial reminder for all international and exchange students who want to remain active in their studies at Carleton for the upcoming fall term. Put simply, the sooner these documents are completed and filed, the sooner the IRCC can get back to you. In the meantime, don’t panic, you will receive a response by August 6, 2021.
