Are you a new international student starting at Carleton University this winter? Do you have questions about accessing services, study permits, work, and navigating campus and Ottawa? The International Student Services Office (ISSO) is here to help!

Ask us anything at this virtual drop-in session with ISSO staff members. In this session, students will:

  • Meet ISSO staff members including:
    • Carolyn McGill, International Student Immigration Specialist
    • Lynn Murphy, Office and UHIP Administrator
    • Shaye Belanger, International Student Support Coordinator
    • Sara Abbass, International Admission and Recruitment Officer
  • Learn about important dates, deadlines, and programs
  • Get answers to your questions about: campus services, health insurance, immigration, work, Ottawa and more.

We highly encourage you to take advantage of the free I-Start International Orientation online mini-course. It’s specifically designed for new international students at Carleton University.

Through this course, you will learn the information needed to help you transition to student life at Carleton and in Canada. This orientation has been designed to meet the needs of all international students, including undergraduate, graduate, and study abroad students..

Topics include: ISSO services, the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), immigration advising, student life in Canada, navigating Ottawa, and much more!

Key Features of I-Start

  • Go at your own pace. Modules you can revisit when you need it.
  • Get credit. Students who complete the course will be eligible for credit on their Co-Curricular Record, a system Carleton uses to record involvement.
