During International Winter Welcome you can look forward to:
- Connecting with fellow international students through ice-breakers, socials, and events
- Discovering Carleton and Ottawa information aimed to explore and familiarize yourself with Carleton University and the vibrant city of Ottawa.
- Learning about available resources tailored to support the needs of our international student community
- Developing essential skills to equip you with the necessary social, cultural, and academic skills for a successful transition to university life
- Exploring the key themes of culture, academics, community resources, social connection, transition, and immigration, all of which contribute to the overall success of our international student community

Through this mini-course, you will learn the information needed to help you transition to student life at Carleton and in Canada. This orientation has been designed to meet the needs of all international students, including undergraduate, graduate, and study abroad students.Topics include: ISSO services, the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), immigration advising, student life in Canada, navigating Ottawa, and much more!
Key Features of I-Start:
- Go at your own pace. Modules you can revisit when you need it.
- Get credit. Students who complete the course will be eligible for credit on their Co-Curricular Record, a system Carleton uses to record involvement.
