CANSSI Ontario will be hosting an upcoming lecture by University of Pennsylvania Professor Eric J. Tchetgen Tchetgen, who will be delivering the annual Distinguished Lecture in Statistical Sciences (DLSS) in Toronto on May 9 and 10, 2023. The DLSS will be broadcast live via ZOOM for those who cannot attend in person and recorded and posted to the CANSSI Ontario YouTube channel at a later date.
The DLSS has been running for more than 20 years, and it is one of the most significant lectures of its kind in Canada. The lecture brings an internationally renowned statistics/data scientist to Ontario to discuss their research. DLSS speakers are selected by a committee of six faculty members in statistics/data sciences at Ontario’s universities, including Carleton University. This lecture is an excellent opportunity to showcase your Department’s efforts in advancing the fields of statistics and data sciences in Ontario, and we believe it will interest many faculty and students at Carleton University.
Professor Tchetgen Tchetgen is one of five inaugural winners of the 2022 Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics. The award was conferred for “their pioneering work on Causal Inference with applications in Medicine and Public Health.”
