The Applied and Computational Math Group focuses on the theory and applications of differential equations and numerical analysis. We develop and study systems of differential equations such as nonlinear wave equations and dynamical systems which arise as models in numerous physical settings. We make use of a variety of numerical and analytical methods including finite-difference and spectral methods, and asymptotic and perturbation methods. Our areas of application include fluid dynamics, optics, biology and finance.
