The School of Mathematics and Statistics offers several math and science enrichment programs for grade school students.
These online and in-person courses are excellent opportunities for students from Grade 4 – 12 who:
- Already do well in school and excel in math and science
- Would like to explore exciting topics such as coding, python, data structures and more!
- Need more challenging course material that goes beyond the standard school curriculum.
2022-2023 classes are now open for registration. Read more below.
Math Enrichment Centre is supported in part with an Endowment Grant from the Canadian Mathematical Society.
COVID-19 Update: Currently Carleton University suspended vaccination requirements and mask mandate. This may change should the Covid situation evolve. We will be following all Covid protocols of Carleton University.

2022/23 Courses
The following courses are planned for 2022/23 academic year. Online registrations are now open. For most courses grades indicate the level of math knowledge and not the actual school grade.
*Families with limited financial resources are welcome to apply for a fee waiver.
**We are considering running some of our in-person high school courses in a flex form, with an option to join the lectures online. If you are interested in an online option, please email: enrichment-admin@math.carleton.ca

Cost: $550
- Fundamentals of Geometry I (7-8)
-
Admission Test is required. Geometry is a wonderful playground for developing logical thinking. It may be regarded as a game played by axiomatic rules created by the ancient Greeks. However, this classical part of mathematics is practically nonexistent as a subject in the curriculum of Canadian schools.
Date: In-person – Thursdays
Time: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $490
- Geometry I as a Gateway to Computer Science (7-8)
-
No admission test requirement. This is a lighter online version of “Fundamentals of Geometry I,” taught with the Geogebra technology. For stronger students we recommend taking “Fundamentals of Geometry I.”
Date: Online – Thursdays
Time: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $360
- MathLink (9-10)
-
Admission Test is required. We will discuss various advanced math topics. This course operates on a 2-year cycle, so it may be taken for 2 years in a row.
Date: In-person – Wednesdays
Time: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Cost: Free
- Physics I (8-9)
-
The first half of this course will be on Electricity (from Ohm’s Law to Kirchhoff’s Law), the second part will be on Kinematics and Ballistics.
