2025/26 Course Information
The course will run online from September 23rd, 2025 to April 2026 (with a break in December).
Instructor: Professor Yuly Billig billig@math.carleton.ca.
This course will be assignment-based. Each Wednesday we will post a pre-recorded lecture and an assignment with 10 challenging problems. The key element of this course is one-on-one meetings with the Teaching Assistants, who are Carleton undergraduate Math Honours students. Each student in this course will book each week (Friday to Monday) an individual time slot, at a time convenient for you, for a 15-minute one-on-one discussion with a Teaching Assistant. The purpose of this meeting is to review the progress on the home assignment and get help with any difficulties. After the meeting with a Teaching Assistant, students will complete home assignments, which will be submitted the following Wednesday for marking.
There will be no admission test for this course. For Ottawa students we recommend taking in-person “Basic Algebra” course.
