Nabarun Roy
Assistant Professor (Senior Grade), South Asian University
PhD Political Science, 2011
After graduating from Carleton University, Nabarun worked as a Program Officer with the Forum of Federations, an Ottawa-based international NGO. Thereafter, he shifted to India to take up a faculty position as Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations at the South Asian University (SAU). SAU is an international university established by the 8 member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and is located in New Delhi. He has taught students at the Master’s and Doctorate levels and has successfully supervised MPhil and PhD students. He has published his research on Indian foreign policy and Asian security in journals like the International History Review, Journal of Asian Security and International Affairs, and Diplomacy and Statecraft. The publications are a culmination of the research that he had embarked on as a PhD student at Carleton University. At present, he is an active member of the IR community in India.
As a teacher and researcher, I have benefitted greatly from the Department of Political Science’s emphasis on both ‘mainstream’ and ‘critical’ approaches that allows students to locate themselves on the vast canvas of the discipline and find their niche areas.
