Izak (he/they) is a PhD student in Carleton University’s Department of Political Science working under the supervision of Dr. Mira Sucharov. His specializations are in far-right politics, international relations, comparative politics, and critical security studies.

Izak’s doctoral research concentrates on the contemporary New Right political movement. His dissertation seeks to discover how liberal democracies like Canada view and address the New Right, using critical and constructivist theory to better understand why.

Izak’s academic interests lie in utilizing poststructural, postfoundational, and posthumanist theory to address policy challenges and security issues. He is committed ​to the lifelong journey of pedagogy development, and he is passionate about strengthening science communication in the field of political science.

Izak holds an MA in International Studies from Morgan State University and a BA in Political Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His master’s thesis focused on Canada’s preventing and countering radical extremism (P/CVE) framework.
