Supanai Sookmark received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a doctoral degree in the same field from Canada’s Carleton University. Currently, she is a contract instructor at the Department of Political Science at Carleton, where she teaches courses in the areas of International Political Economy and Comparative Politics.  Her specialization and research interests are the political economy of monetary and financial policy of Thailand, global finance and developing countries, global governance and regionalism, and democratization. From 2012-2013 she was a junior fellow of the ASEAN-Canada Research Fellowship program, supported by IDRC (International Development Research Centre) and ASEAN. Her research examined the impact of regional financial arrangements within the framework of ASEAN+3 to monetary and financial integration among member countries. Since 2014, Dr. Sookmark works as a consultant for the Thai embassy in promoting Thailand-Canada research collaboration in the areas of science, technology, and innovation.
