Jodi White was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Wednesday, June 8 “in recognition of a distinguished career in journalism, public service and volunteer leadership.”

Her career spans the nexus of journalism, government, the private sector and the not-for-profit sector. She is committed to the importance of dialogue and collaboration between sectors for improved public policy.

She has worked as a CBC TV news reporter and radio producer, was chief of staff to the prime minister and the minister of Foreign Affairs, served as vice-president at a major Canadian multinational and was president of the Public Policy Forum.

She played senior roles in six successive federal election campaigns. She participated in international projects concerning Eastern Europe and the Old City of Jerusalem. Jodi White has served on numerous boards, including Tides Canada, Action Canada, the National Theatre School, the Canadian International Council and the Canadian Journalism Foundation.

She is a distinguished senior fellow at Carleton University.
