John Ruddy was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 2:00 p.m. ceremony on Thursday, June 9 “in recognition of his leadership as an entrepreneur and developer contributing to the fabric of Ontario’s infrastructure, and as a patron of the arts, history and sports.”

He graduated from Carleton in 1975 and began his career in Toronto. He launched his own company, Trinity Development Group, in 1991 and relocated back to Ottawa in 1993. Trinity is an industry leader in retail and innovative mixed-use developments

He has held positions as honorary chair of the Royal Ottawa Hospital Campaign for Mental Health, the Ashbury College Opening Doors Campaign and the Campaign Cabinet for the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence.

John Ruddy is lead governor of the CFL Ottawa RedBlacks, managing partner of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, owner of the RedBlacks, Ottawa Fury and Ottawa 67’s and president of Old Crows Football Inc.
