Whistleblowers and informants are essential for investigative reporting, as well as for investigations into allegations of wrongdoing and reprisal complaints within government. Joe Friday, who followed his journalism degree with a law degree, worked as counsel in government departments for 23 years before being tapped to lead the federal Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner. The office tabled 15 cases before Parliament between 2012 and 2017.
He is a featured Faculty of Public Affairs journalism graduate.
