If you are hoping to learn more about programs and what types of careers you could to with your degree, below are some online resources to assist you in beginning your exploration:
- Learn more about fields that a degree can potentially direct you towards with our What Can I Do With A Degree In …? and Career Cruising (Login – Carleton, Password – University)
- Explore the potential programs available and what courses they include Undergraduate Course Calendar and visit Departmental Advisors
- If you are feeling unsure about your interests and values there are three ways you can begin to learn about yourself:
- Visit Career Services to speak with a Career Counsellor. Career Counsellors will discuss your values, abilities and interests with you.
- A Career Counsellor can also discuss whether you would benefit from career assessments, and interpret the results with you.
- Type Focus (Access Code: CU5252) is a self-assessment:
- Should you decide to complete the online assessment, please note that TypeFocus is a method of sorting preferences, not a test (i.e. no right or wrong answers). When completing this inventory think of how you are when you do not have outside pressures to behave in a particular way. Think of yourself, outside of the roles you play at work or in your personal life. Choose the response that best reflects how you would typically behave.
- mynextmove.org is an online assessment that can be taken to gain a deeper understanding of interests, as well as types of careers that may be a fit. While it is based on American research, we believe it to be an excellent resource to learn more about knowledge, skills and abilities that align with different careers.
- Visit Career Services to speak with a Career Counsellor. Career Counsellors will discuss your values, abilities and interests with you.
*If you choose to take on online assessment to learn more about your personality or your interests it is essential that you meet with a Career Counsellor to discuss the results.
