Film Studies Graduate Colloquium

Friday, March 10 at 5:00 pm to Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9:00 pm

Join us at the 2023 Film Studies Graduate Colloquium Friday, March 10 – Saturday, March 11 in person at St. Patrick’s Building!

We are pleased to be hosting a 16mm film projection workshop following our keynote presentation on Friday. This session includes a professional guided tour and provides a hands-on opportunity with physical film and projectors. In addition, we will be holding a special 16mm film screening of You Are On Indian Land (Michael Kanentakeron Mitchell, 1969), the most widely distributed and one of the most influential films to be produced by the Indian Film Crew (IFC), the first all-Indigenous unit at the NFB.

Both of these special events connect to our exciting array of panelists across Canada and the US who discuss different aspects of our concept ‘Familiar Stranger’, exploring our current times and cinematic landscape as we find ourselves between the familiar and the strange.

Refreshments are provided at our event. RSVP with our QR code (found on the poster and schedule) to receive a unique discount to Thursday and Saturday screenings at the International Film Festival of Ottawa!
