There is a changing of the administrative guard in the Department of History.  With a mixture of joy and sadness, we say farewell to two pillars of our community, the now-retired Regina Aulinskas (Departmental Administrator) and Irene Sanna (Undergraduate Administrator). Irene and Regina, along with Joan White who remains our Graduate Administrator, were fixtures in the department since the years of university-wide restructuring in the mid-to-late 1990s. Since then, they oversaw the day-to-day challenges involved with running an academic unit including dealing with that most troublesome of pests, “faculty.”  Even as changes swept over the campus and the department, these three remained constants who kept the departmental ship from crashing into shore. We shall miss Regina and Irene greatly and wish them well on their new adventures in retirement.

While saying goodbye is never easy, we are pleased to offer a hearty welcome to the new Departmental Administrator, Kristin Guth. Kristin assumed her duties at the end of May, coming over from the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Science. Welcome, Kristin! For now, Kristin and Joan will be managing the department’s affairs but we expect to be able to introduce a new Undergraduate Administrator in the coming weeks.
