Dr. Shawn Graham‘s digital project “Listening to Watling Street,” has won a Judge’s Choice Award at the 2015 Heritage Jam, sponsored by the University of York, Department of Archeology. “Listening to Watling Street” is Dr. Graham’s experiment into sonifying the digital representation of the past. The song reflects concentrated areas in the archaeological record, providing a new means for understanding the Roman past. See here for more information on Dr. Graham’s project.
The Heritage Jam, began in 2014, as a way to bring people together to design and create forward-thinking pieces of heritage visualisation in a short space of time. Heritage Jam brings together participants from a multitude of backgrounds, welcoming projects in any medium, such as film, art, literature, comics, and game development.
