Congratulations to Professors Dawn Moore, Dale Spencer, Diana Majury, Doris Buss, and George Rigakos, who won grants totaling more than $275,000 for their research, supported by the Government of Ontario’s Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan.

Earlier this afternoon, MPP Yasir Naqvi was on campus to formally announce the funding of two research projects which stem from the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) project funding:

  • Policing Sexual Violence Online and in the Community led by Prof. Spencer; a study of how police investigate sexual violence and harassment both on screen and off.
  • Sexual Violence on Ontario University Campuses – led by Prof. Moore, in collaboration with Professors Majury, Buss, and Rigakos, as well as Prof. Rashmee Singh from the University of Waterloo; this project will investigate incidents of sexual violence against university students by members of the university community, focusing specifically on the relationships between post-secondary educational institutions and the police.
