Curious as to the types of topics you can research in our department? Check out this interesting project completed by student Matea Abebe!
Matea graduated in the Spring of 2024 with an Honours BA in Law with a minor in Sociology. Matea also participated in CUROP this past summer, which is a summer research internship for students offered here at Carleton. Matea also completed the Honours Research Essay for credit during her final year at Carleton.
On October 1st for the FPGA Showcase, Matea presented the the research project she developed as part of the CUROP program this past summer. The project is titled, “Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Inclusion for Autistic Students in Ontario’s Mainstream Elementary Classrooms”, and it examined whether proposed new legal standards for enhancing accessibility to elementary education disabled students (through the Ontario AODA) are sufficient to meet the needs of Autistic students.
Matea is now off to Law School at McGill University for the next step in her journey. Congratulations Matea!
