Maelie Dagnealt

Meet Maelie Dagneault! Maelie resides in Gatineau and is going into her fourth year as a Law major with a concentration in Business Law. Maelie has been a Law Ambassador with our department for the past year and is also the recipient of this year’s Communications Law Prize!

What lead you to decide to pursue your degree at Carleton?

I saw that Carleton offered a law degree where I could learn more about the law while still exploring any other interests I could discover along the way.

What is your favourite part about our program?

I have loved to discover more specific areas of the law within my business concentrations, one of which being Intellectual Property law taught by Sheryl Hamilton, an extremely devoted and passionate teacher who has inspired me greatly.

What are you hoping to do after graduation, and what do you hope to gain from your degree?

After graduation, I am planning on attending law school. I am confident that my time at Carleton has shaped me to be the most academically prepared and legally creative for my coming studies.

Any advice for incoming students?

My advice for incoming students is to always put yourself in situations that may make you uncomfortable. Raise your hand in class, hunt down professors in their office and make yourself known to them. The temporary fear or uncertainty will be worth it, I promise.
