Carleton University provides generous financial support to top-ranked candidates. Available funding for graduate students includes teaching assistantships, scholarships, as well as over 100 endowed awards. Research bursaries are also available to help defray the cost conducting and presenting your research. There are a number of Graduate Scholarships and Awards available – you just have to know where to look!

| Chet Mitchell Memorial Award in Law | Established in 1991 by colleagues, family, and friends in honour of the late Chet Mitchell, who was a professor in the Department of Law. This award is given annually to a deserving student enrolled in the Master of Arts program in legal studies. Application is not required. |

| Ontario Graduate Scholarships | OGS valued up to $15,000. Keep an eye out for information sessions in the early fall. |
| Red Quill Books Graduate Scholarship in Social Justice |
Valued at $500; this is awarded annually to an outstanding full or part-time graduate student enrolled in any program of study who is engaged in thesis work related to some aspect of social justice. Application is required, and can be found at the Red Quill Books website. Deadline: First Monday in February. |
| Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada | SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship – MA – valued up to $17,500. Keep an eye out for information sessions in the early Fall. |
Other Funding
- Some funding may be awarded to you upon entry to the program, and some funding is based on recommendations from the Department. Other funding must be applied for by yourself, either through Carleton University or to an external funding agency.
- Research bursaries are available for students in financial need who require assistance to conduct or disseminate their research. Application forms are available through Graduate Studies’ Awards and Funding listings.
