International Exchange

This academic exchange allows students in a Carleton law program to study at locations like Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) in the U.K. for one year. Approved courses that students complete successfully then count towards the degree from Carleton. The Exchange is a reciprocal arrangement in which students from abroad come to Canada and study at Carleton for one year.

Why participate in an Exchange at Sheffield Hallam?

Individual students are likely to have different reasons for participating, but here are some of the most common: All approved SHU credits that are successfully completed count towards the Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton.

Recognized as a National City of Sport, Sheffield is a friendly city with a large student population and offers a diverse array of pubs, clubs, theatres, shops and other entertainment venues to sample. Delve into the rich historical heritage of the area – castles, cathedrals, abbeys and other local landmarks – or explore the picturesque moors of the Peak District National Park.

What Will I Study?

Courses at Sheffield Hallam are firmly rooted in the social scientific study of law, and are taught in a professional law school. Students select up to 6 units to study during the year – this would be the equivalent of 5.0 full credits at Carleton. Select approved courses from the LL.B. (Hons.) Law syllabus of the Division of Applied Social Science, Faculty of Development and Society.
