Are you interested in learning qualitative interview, visual, and participant-observational techniques, useful for understanding social and political processes? Ethnographic Research Methods is a hands-on class which will provide structured guidance and practice in these important research methods. We will also delve into the ethical and philosophical questions raised by these approaches. Although the readings will focus on topics relevant to political science, such as governance, social movements, and conflict, students from other disciplines and interested in a wide range of topics are welcome.

Dr. Cati Coe is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. Trained as an anthropologist, she has an interest in migration and care, with a regional focus on West Africa.
