Carleton Students Prizewinners in Japanese Language Speech Contest

On March 7th, local students studying Japanese language gathered at the Embassy of Japan for the 26th Japanese Language Speech Contest in Ottawa. Twelve Carleton students were competing in three categories: beginners, intermediate, and advanced.

Here is the list of winners:

  1. Amieke Walker (JAPA 3021) as a first prize winner will be representing Carleton and Ottawa in the Advanced Category on March 28th in Calgary. Her speech was titled: The charm of the handmade.
  2. Michelle Poon (JAPA 3020) won the second prize in the Intermediate Category for her speech Happiness.

Special prizes were awarded to:

  1. Rufino Ansara (JAPA 3021) for his speech The world beyond the door
  2. Weiyi Pei (JAPA 4020) for her speech titled: The meaning of authenticity.
