Denise: We are very excited to announce that Josée-Sarah Bower, ASL-English Interpreter, is our newest staff interpreter! As some of you may already know, Josée has an extensive background of experience in sign language interpreting. She is highly professional, is accompanied by integrity and ethics, and she has an engaging personality! We are very excited to have Josée working with us!
Josée: Thank you Denise for the warm welcome! I am so excited to work with this amazing team.
I have already had the pleasure of working with many of the fabulous SLALS team members as a freelance interpreter and in my new role as part-time staff interpreter; I look forward to strengthening current relationships and forging new ones.
Since 2004, I have worked as a freelance sign language interpreter in various settings, predominantly in post-secondary academia, community, medical, and government. Although my formal training is specific to interpreting between American Sign Language (ASL) and English, I also include in my services French and I am striving for fluency in Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ). I always welcome new linguistic challenges and working in a multi-language-multi-cultural environment fuels my spirit.
My interpreting services are available to you if you would like to set up a meeting and connect with any of your Deaf or hearing colleagues. Please do not hesitate to connect with me about interpreting needs or questions at: joseesarahbower@cunet.carleton.ca.
