Congratulations to Carleton University’s Michael Han!

Mr. Michael Han, in the second year of the Japanese language program, won the prestigious 2nd prize in the intermediate level at the 34th National Japanese Language Speech Contest held in Toronto on March 26, 2023. All winners from the eight Regional Speech Contests assembled and competed. Michael Han was the first prize winner in the intermediate level at the Ottawa-Kingston Regional Contest and moved on to the national finals. In the intermediate category, he had to compete with 3rd year students who had been studying Japanese language much longer than him. Thanks to his hard work and strong effort, he wrote a high-quality speech with entitled “To be cool or not to be cool, that was the question!”. In his speech, he described his past emotional struggles and how he coped with them. His message to the audience is that what is most important is to focus on the things one is truly interested in. He practiced a lot to memorize the speech and delivered it clearly and impressively!

Please join us in congratulating Michael for his great achievement!
