Fatima Ramadan Receives RSEQ Leadership and Community Engagement Award
Congratulations to Fatima Ramadan! Fatima recently received the RSEQ Leadership and Community Engagement Award for her dedication to rugby and her steadfast commitment to community engagement, becoming the second Raven ever to win the RSEQ award.

“It is an honour to have been recognized by Ravens Rugby staff as well as the RSEQ,” Fatima shares.
Fatima, a fourth-year linguistics student, helps organize the Junior Ravens programs, introducing youth in the community to rugby. A member of the Eastern Ontario Rugby Referees Association, Fatima volunteers as a coach for the Ottawa Irish RFC Girls U14 team, and leads sessions to help young players develop their skills. She also volunteers as a rugby mentor for the Canadian JAX RFC and helps out with the Inclusive Rugby Jamboree, an annual event hosted by the JAX RFC and Carleton University Ravens.
Fatima is an active member of Carleton University Varsity Council as a representative for the women’s rugby program, and helps coordinate events within Carleton Athletics and within the community at various schools.
“As a Muslim student-athlete who has a lot to balance in life, it’s important to make the time to always be curious and to try new things. Find your community(ies), get to know all kinds of people, and enjoy your life.”
“I will always value the lessons I learned and the connections I made throughout my years as a Raven,” she shares, “and will take this opportunity to further fuel my efforts for community, inclusion and safety.”
