Carleton University’s American Sign Language (ASL) instructors Ari Black, Denise DeShaw, David Morton, and Todd Tobin visited the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) flag that was raised and flown over campus on Library Road on Tuesday, September 23, the day of the annual flag raising events celebrated around the world. Last September, Carleton raised the flag for the first time on campus.

An article in The Charlatan, written by one of our ASL students, Katelyn Stevenson, highlights the City of Ottawa’s flag-raising celebration, which took place at Parliament Hill on September 23.

We look forward to fostering an accessible environment for Deaf people of all sign languages, including ASL, LSQ, ISL, and MSL, not only at Carleton University but also across other academic institutions and throughout cities across Canada.
