Hyounjeong Yoo Receives Provost’s Fellowship in Teaching Award
Congratulations to Korean Coordinator and contract instructor, Hyounjeong Yoo, on receiving a Provost’s Fellowship in Teaching Award. The selection committee was deeply impressed by Yoo’s passion for teaching and her thoughtful innovations to support student engagement and academic success.

Yoo has been instrumental in the development of the Korean program here at Carleton University, and her dynamic approach to teaching, alongside her celebration of Korean popular culture, has been greatly appreciated by her students.
She adds this fellowship to a growing list of accolades including: Liberal Arts Scholarship (2025), Lynne Young ALDS Graduate Award (2024), and CUELF funding for her project entitled “Contraflow Pedagogies: Reimagining Korean Language Learning Through Critical Cultural Engagement.”
Outside the classroom, and in collaboration with her Korean teaching colleagues, Yoo has also been a key organizer of many extracurricular events on campus celebrating Korean language and culture such as: invited guest speakers on themes such as K-Pop and Korean food, the annual Korean Speech Contest, and last October’s highly successful Hangeul Day celebration.
Please join us in congratulating Hyounjeong Yoo and all recipients of the 2026 Carleton University Teaching Awards!
