Current Program: MA in ALDS (TESL Stream)
A teacher has to keep learning throughout life since the generations of students keep changing in this ever-changing world. Hence, as part of my mission to keep upgrading myself as an ELT professional, researcher, and academician, I am pursuing an MA in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies (in the TESL stream) at Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada.
Before embarking on my study leave in Canada, I served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Chittagong Independent University from September 2017. During this time, I honed my skills in teaching courses such as English Language Skills, Language Testing and Assessment, Principles and Methods of ELT, SLA Theories, Sociolinguistics, and English Literature to undergraduate and MA-ELT students. My role as an English Language Assessor (Examiner of IELTS) at British Council Bangladesh from 2014 to 2023 was particularly impactful, allowing me to interact with and assess the English language proficiency of thousands of students. Previously, I held the position of Lecturer in the Department of English Language & Literature, University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) (from November 2011 to August 2017), and also worked as an adjunct ESL Faculty Member at Asian University for Women (AUW).
My published research works in the field of Applied Linguistics include : i) Teachers’ use of learners’ L1 in EFL/ESL Classes Published in USTA December 2014. ISSN-17280435; ii) Gateways to Positive Washback of Language Testing: A review of the factors that contribute to washback effects published in CIUJ, and iii) Factors Influencing English Speaking Performances of Bangladeshi Private University Engineering Students (Co-Authored), published in CIUJ.
Upon completing my current study (MA in ALDS), I plan to enroll in a PhD program in ALDS.
