To be fully accessible to the maximum number of users, a web video should include both synchronized captions and a descriptive transcript. For content that is audio-only, a transcript will usually do. If you’re interested in learning more, you can follow these best practice guidelines established by our friends at the Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP).

How to create accessible videos:

  1. Use a service to create closed captions for your video
  2. Ensure that text meets other accessibility standards
  3. Host all videos with a third party service that possesses all the stipulated video controls (Pause, play, forward and rewind)
  4. Provide transcripts of your video (remember you already have these if you created a script!)
