In today’s issue of the Ottawa Citizen, Prof. Dawn Moore weighs in on the dispute over the rewriting of campus policy on sexual violence and the inclusion of the term “rape culture”. The article is entitled “Battle lines drawn over ‘rape culture’ at Carleton University”, and features Prof. Moore expanding on the importance of the inclusion of the term:

“I think it helps our reputation to say, ‘We acknowledge that this happens on our campus, as it does on every other campus. And instead of trying to sweep it under the rug, instead of not naming it for what it is, we’re going to tackle the problem head on and we’re going to address it.”

Prof. Moore is one of several Law and Legal Studies faculty members to recently receive grants towards research on sexual violence, in support of the Government of Ontario’s Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan.
