First-Year Engineering Resources

Visit the First-Year Engineering Resources page for first-year advising, access to free virtual peer tutoring, course registration and other various resources dedicated to first-year students. Advising inquiries for all first-year B.Eng. students can be directed to ECORSupport@carleton.ca.

First-Year Internship Program

A special first-year summer internship may be available for students with a Canadian high school diploma based on their entry average and performance in the first year. Eligible students are given the opportunity to be placed in a university research lab or industry. This internship is not required for graduation and students do not need to apply. For more information, visit the First-Year Internship Program page.

Who to Contact?

Accelerated Pathway in Civil and Environmental Engineering

The accelerated pathway is a flexible and individualized plan of graduate study. Students in the final year of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Environmental, or Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering with excellent academic records, and demonstrated an aptitude for graduate studies and research may qualify for this option. At this time, you can consider this option if you plan to pursue your master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering. For more information, visit this page.

Co-operative Education

The Co-operative Education team at Carleton University provides ongoing assistance to our students and employers to ensure that recruitment needs are met with some of the brightest and talented candidates available. Students in the co-operative education program will extend their time at university in order to achieve the academic credit to graduate with the co-op option for their degree program. For more information on Carleton’s co-op program, please visit Co-op Education.

*Note: Override requests for all engineering courses can be submitted here. Override requests for all other Carleton courses can be submitted through Carleton Central.

Students are encouraged to connect with the Undergraduate Administrator, appropriate Program Advisor or Undergraduate Chair in the department. In addition, regularly review your audit to help you stay on track. Career Services

Career Services offers job search support and resume writing. They can also help provide opportunities to gain work experience and develop skills that can increase your employability. 

Mental Health and Wellness Support Services

Other Support Services

Students have access to a variety of services across campus such as study skills, support for learning or physical disabilities, awards and financial aid and many more. A full list of services is available through Campus Support Services. 

Requests for Accommodation

Students with disabilities requiring academic accommodations must register with the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities (PMC) for a formal evaluation of disability-related needs. Registered PMC students are required to contact PMC every term to ensure that the letter of accommodation is received no later than two weeks before the date you require.

Students with Learning or Physical Disabilities

Carleton University is committed to ensuring all students have equal access to education. Special Students
