Allison Smith

Allison Smith completed her MA in Public History in 2015 under the supervision of John Walsh and James Miller.

Allison Margot Smith, a graduate of Carleton’s B.A. in History (Honours) and M.A. in Public History programs, has been awarded the 2022-23 OHS President’s Award from the Ontario Historical Society. The award’s citation points to Allison’s many contributions to public history in Ontario, including her documentary film on Mary Ann Shadd which was also her capstone M.A. project.  In 2022, Danielle Mahon of the Carleton Centre for Public History produced a profile and video interview about Allison’s work as a public historian, including how valuable both her undergraduate and graduate training was to her career.

Congratulations, Allison!
