Rod Phillips smiling at cameraProfessor Rod Phillips was interviewed on ‘All in a Day’, CBC Radio 1 Ottawa’s afternoon program, on alcohol and health. He outlined historical attitudes towards alcohol – which until the twentieth century largely focused on the dangers of alcohol to social stability and morality, rather than health.  Rod gave historical context to the recent report on alcohol and health and proposals to add warning labels to alcohol containers. He also talked about a 2017 experiment with warning labels in the Yukon, and what is known of the effects of such labels where they are used.

Rod Phillips teaches a third-year course on the history of alcohol.
