Dr. Wanamaker obtained her Ph.D. in Psychology from Carleton University in 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Brown (Gender and Crime Research Lab). Dr. Wanamaker’s primary research focus is on strengths-based and gender-informed risk assessment and interventions within the criminal justice system. She is interested in using mixed methods research designs to further explore: 1) how strengths can be incorporated into risk assessment and case management practices, 2) the relationship between adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and negative outcomes including antisocial behaviour, and 3) holistic risk assessment and intervention strategies (such as correctional programming) that are culturally-sensitive, gender-responsive, and trauma-informed.
