MASc and PhD Students: MEng students should familiarize yourself with the departmental regulations for MEng students. For course planning and advise on comprehensive exams, defenses and your thesis, please contact your supervisor(s). For all over matters, please contact the Graduate Advising team.
MEng Students: for advising on academic progress, regulations and more, please complete the MEng Academic Request Form or contact the Graduate Advising team.
Registration
Fall Registration: Beings July 7-12, 2023 (time-ticket based priority registration). Non-ticketed registration follows until September 19, 2023.
Winter Registration: runs July to January 19, 2024.
Mark your calendars! Fall 2023 term classes begin September 6, 2023 and Winter 2024 term classes begin on January 8, 2024. Please note that all students are required to be in-attendance for the first week of classes.
To be eligible to register and attend, you must first meet your conditions and if applicable, submit a proof of study permit (international students only), by August 15, 2023 (for Fall 2023) and December 15, 2023 (for Winter 2024). If you haven’t already reviewed this message’s condition and study permit information, please refer to the previous section.
Important: If you cannot make it for the first week of classes (due to outstanding conditions or study permit issues) please advise the department as soon as possible at sysc.gradmin@cunet.carleton.ca. .

Paying Tuition
Tuition payment is part of the registration process, and addressed in step 4 of the registration process (Paying Your Fees: https://carleton.ca/registrar/registration/step-4/).
In order to avoid late fees, you must be registered and pay your tuition fees by the posted deadline. All dates and deadlines can be found here: https://carleton.ca/studentaccounts/dates-deadlines/.

Note: your exact tuition fees are only calculated once you’ve registered for classes (Carleton Central > Registration > Student Accounts > Calculate Amount to pay).
Funding and Financial Assistance Information
In order to receive funding, students must have a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN), a Canadian Bank account, and be documented in Human Resources. Funding is decided at the time of admission. Please make sure to thoroughly read through the Terms and Conditions of admissions and Funding.

Teaching Assistants
Students with Teaching Assistant funding must complete registration by August 15, 2023 (fall) or December 15, 2023 (Winter) in order to be awarded a teaching assistant position in the relevant term. As per the TA employment contract, Teaching Assistants must be present on the first day of their TA duties.
A teaching assistant (TA) assists faculty members with various duties which may include conducting labs or study groups, assisting with lecture preparation, and marking assignments and tests. Your TA work assignment may take place outside the department to which you are applying if your academic record shows strengths in other areas. Priority TAs receive a TA award as part of their funding package at the time of application. If you did not receive a TA award with your admission package, you may still apply as an Outside Priority TA (availability is limited).
