Vintage Computing barn find unboxing: Fri. Oct. 2, 2026 @ 2 pm
A rare AES Alphaplus 12, a Canadian-built computer with ties to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), has resurfaced after decades forgotten in a rural Edmonton barn and is heading to Carleton University’s Vintage Computing Collection for its first unboxing in nearly half a century.
With almost no documentation of this exact model anywhere, not even in Canada’s own national science and technology museum, nobody knows exactly what we’ll find inside. Come be part of the reveal, watch us identify and assess this rare piece of Canadian computing history live, and celebrate a genuine, one-of-a-kind rediscovery.
When: Fri. Oct. 2, 2026 @ 2 pm
Where: Carleton University Herzberg Building room 4155
Zoom Livestream: <available before the event>
