Ron Rosenes was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 2 p.m. ceremony on Tuesday, June 5, “in recognition of his passionate advocacy for the rights of people all over the world living with HIV/AIDS.”

Carleton alumnus Ron Rosenes is a former teacher and entrepreneur who has been living with HIV/AIDS for more than 30 years. Since retiring from the workforce in 1991, Mr. Rosenes has been a tireless volunteer
and passionate advocate for the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS in Canada and abroad. He has also been an adviser to both the federal and provincial governments on HIV/AIDS.

He has received many awards for his work, including the AIDS Committee of Toronto 10-year Volunteer Award, the ACT Top10 Walkers Award, the Glen Hillson Award of Excellence (CTAC) and the Canadian AIDS Society Community Leadership Award. He has algo been named to the Ontario AIDS Network Honour Roll and received the Queen Elizabeth Il Golden Jublee Medal.
