On October 21, 2024, Carleton University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Teaching Learning Services hosted a half-day AI Symposium in the Future Learning Lab. The event featured a keynote on academic misconduct and ethics by Dr. Sarah Elaine Eaton (University of Calgary) and panelists discussed issues surrounding academic integrity, evolving assessment practices, and the integration of AI use in education.
Professor Peggy Hartwick from SLaLS moderated a panel with Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies (ALDS) alum Tina Beynen (PhD) and the MacOdrum Library’s Joël Rivard (Head, Research Support Services). Beynen and Rivard shared practical best practices and introduced library initiatives on how to navigate AI in our classrooms.
