  • Katie Lucas (Institute of Environmental and Interdisciplinary Science). Project:  Increasing retention by taking an active learning approach and focusing on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Jennifer Drake (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering). Project: Exploring the use of virtual reality field trips and augmented reality models of inaccessible underground municipal infrastructure (drinking water distribution, storm sewers, etc.) to allow civil engineering students to learn through directly experiencing and engaging with these systems.
  • Stefania Maggi (Childhood and Youth Studies/Department of Psychology). Project: Developing a course on eco-anxiety using the EON-XR platform.
  • Rose Gomar (Department of Systems and Computer Engineering). Project:  Using learning analytic to enhance the educational experience for all students.
  • Martha Mullally (Department of Biology). Project: Further developing a previously piloted immersive virtual reality (IVR) simulation.
  • Katie Graham (School of Journalism and Communication). Project: Using interactive video and reading documents with online self and peer reviews of weekly assignments to improve student engagement.

  • Antonio Llaca Buznego (School for Studies in Art and Culture – Music). Project:  Balancing traditional teaching methods with the use of MatchMySound — an online application using sound recognition technology — to provide instructor-guided weekly recorded assignments to enhance the acquisition of aural skills and performance.
  • Mira Sucharov (Department of Political Science). Project: Exploring the limitations of ChatGPT in providing informed opinions in  an Israeli-Palestinian relations course.

  • Omair Shafiq (School of Information Technology). Project: Developing an analytics process in Brightspace to foster collaboration in group work.
  • Ahmed Hassan (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering). Project: Exploring the Assign2 software to assist in grading of student work, including handwritten work submitted online.
  • Robert Collier & Connor Hillen (School of Computer Science). Project: Re-designing assessments to limit the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that are potentially in use by some students.
  • Kyle Harvey (School of Mathematics and Statistics). Project: Exploring the Crowdmark software to assist in grading of student work and exams, including handwritten work submitted online.
  • Douglas Howe (School of Computer Science). Project: Creation of an autograder tool for assessing programming assignments and exploring the Gradescope software to manage assignments.
  • Elisabeth Gilmore (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering). Project: Exploring Feedback Fruits software to support peer feedback activities.

  • Peter Coffman (School for Studies in Art and Culture – Art and Architectural History). Project: Use of a 360 degree camera to assist in creation of virtual tours for a new course on Canadian architecture that will explore how our buildings across history and geography interact with issues such as climate, power, heritage, and labour.
  • Jim Davies (Department of Cognitive Science). Project: Design and development of a 3D Virtual Reality model to assist in enhancing the learning brain areas including their names, location and function.
  • Brian Greenspan (Department of English). Project: Development of Augmented Reality (AR) storytelling workshops to support students in their work when they create AR stories.
  • Leonard MacEachern (Department of Electronics). Project: Development of a 3D scanner to support creation of 3D models for use in VR/AR/XR applications.
  • Vincent Andrisani (School of Journalism and Communication). Project: Onboarding of student partners to produce and maintain a radio show and podcast called ‘The Place of Sound’ as a platform for sharing the work produced students in this 4th year workshop course.
