Boldly Designing Assignments with Equity in Mind

August 31, 2022 at 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM

Cost:Free

Are you looking for strategies to design effective and accessible assignments? This workshop will demonstrate how a UDL approach can help you create assignments that are more equitable and that meet a variety of student learning needs. We will discuss how to set up and word your assignment instructions so they are clear and understandable, how to use transparent grading practices (such as rubrics) to alleviate student anxiety around performance criteria, and how to provide timely feedback that is accessible and leads to improved learning outcomes for students.

After this session, you’ll be able to:

  • Meet the needs of all learners with assignment descriptions that include critical information that helps alleviate student anxiety
  • Create assignments that give students a choice of response types
  • Use transparent grading practices—including rubrics and feedback techniques—for better student performance

NOTE: This session will be hosted in Zoom and recorded to provide asynchronous access for those who cannot attend the scheduled date.

Space is limited. Please register in advance by filing out the form below.
