ESP Facilitators Testimonials

As a facilitator for the past two years, watching my student’s skills and confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding. I am so grateful for the support I’ve gotten throughout my degree by working at ESP, and for the kind, competent coworkers I’ve met here! I feel much more confident graduating from Carleton knowing I have the skills I have developed at ESP in my toolkit.

– Liv Sebastian, PSYC Facilitator

I have been a facilitator twice and each year I’ve had the opportunity to interact with a variety of phenomenal people. Not only have I learned about my own strengths and weaknesses through my experiences with them, I have also taken away fundamental tools to continue evolving into my best self!

– Halima Diallo, COMS Facilitator

Working as a facilitator for ESP gave me the opportunity to help students and feel like I was really making a difference.

– Siddhant Srivastava, MATH Facilitator

One of the best parts of being an ESP facilitator is the wonderful relationships you make along the way with your colleagues and your students. They have helped me grow into the best version of myself and I will forever be thankful for this experience.

– Rebecca Valade, CGSC & PHIL Facilitator

One thing I love about running workshops is getting the chance to deepen students’ understanding of a subject that I am passionate about. I get to help students gain confidence in their abilities, reach their academic goals, and become familiar with the university experience. I don’t think there’s a job quite like being an ESP facilitator, and the skills I have taken away have helped guide me in becoming a better leader and a better student.

– Karelle Sikapi, SOCI Facilitator

I had a number of students relying on me to kind of help them through the learning process. So that really gets you believing in yourself, once you’re able to succeed at that.

– Nathan Lewis, PSYC Facilitator

I am thankful I had the opportunity to make so many great connections with students, other facilitators and professors in the department. ESP is an incredible place to work!

– Dakota Livingston, PSCI Facilitator

I had never heard of the ESP before. I saw this ad online and was like, this is interesting, it’s very different from teaching or TA’ing. . . . If someone was thinking of applying, I would tell you ‘Go for it!’ You have so much to gain and nothing to lose.

– Funmito Sholola, ECON Facilitator

When I first got the opportunity to apply for ESP, I did not think I would enjoy this job or be able to help the students assigned to me. But I was so wrong, applying to this job was one of the best decisions I could have made. If you are looking for a fulfilling role that gives you mountains of experience this is the job for you. There are so many things I could say that will convince you that you will love this job. But just trust me and apply!

– Terrel Henry Hutchinson, PSYC Facilitator

Running ESP workshops helped me improve my confidence in leading learning sessions. By following a similar format to the workshop plan, I was also able to present my proposal more clearly, establish a safe(r) space with ground rules, and elicit feedback from my coworkers. My experience with ESP has really come in handy in the workplace!

– Gabby Kolotinsky, MATH & BUSI Facilitator

Everyone is there to help you, and you’re there to help other facilitators as well…it’s like this family.

– Michael Habets, PSYC Facilitator
