CUWiSE events for February 2022

February 1, 2022 — February 28, 2022

My name is Kahini Dhoat and I am the VP Outreach at Carleton University’s Women In Science and Engineering (CUWiSE). Our club’s mission is to create a supportive environment for women and gender minorities in STEM by hosting social opportunities, workshops for personal and professional development and other initiatives that support student mental health and inclusion. Our events are a great way to meet other women and gender minorities in STEM, grow your network, make friends or find people in your classes!

This February, CUWiSE will be hosting many exciting events and initiatives so we wanted to share them with you! Please see our calendar and event list below.

Every Thursday 6:00pm – 7:30 pm EST: February Networking Nights
What are the February Networking Nights?

Every week in February, WiSE will be hosting a networking night featuring 4-5 professionals and academics from different fields.
Our guests will talk about their career journeys, give advice, answer questions submitted by our student audience and offer time in breakout rooms to network and answer more one-on-one questions.

The networking nights follow the following schedule:

Every Monday, 5pm-6pm: Weekly Study + Hang Out Nights (Feb 14th Movie Night)

On a more relaxed note, WISE will also be hosting a weekly study and hang out hour where members can join to hang out and meet new people or find an accountability buddy to help get them through the semester.

On February 14th, this weekly event will include an optional movie night for those of you that want to spend Valentine’s day with friends. The movie will be chosen via a poll on the WiSE social media and on Slack.

Sign up: Mentorship Program
What is the mentorship program?

The mentorship program is an initiative by WiSE to pair first year undergrad students to upper years in a similar program and with similar interests.
Within these pairings, mentors have the opportunity to provide advice, friendship and support to first year mentees by sharing with them the things they wish they knew when they first joined Carleton.
This program is a great way to learn how Carleton works from someone who was once in your shoes. It can help you make friends, meet other first years, get involved with extra curriculars and exercise some valuable leadership skills by helping others.

How can I sign up?
