Quality Assurance & Cyclical Reviews

Senate approved the Final Assessment Reports and Executive Summaries arising from the Cyclical Reviews of:

  • Undergraduate Programs in Criminology and Criminal Justice
  • Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Art History
  • Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Sociology
  • Graduate Programs in the School of Public Policy and Administration
  • Undergraduate Programs in Humanities
  • Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Religion

COU Academic Colleague Report

The Senate also received a report from COU Academic Colleague Kim Hellemans. On Oct. 16 and 17, Academic Colleagues met to address pressing issues at Ontario universities, including anti-LGBTQ2S movements, fiscal pressures, high turnover in senior administrative positions, labor relations challenges, geopolitical tensions, and non-tenured high-risk positions, as well as non-traditional tenured positions.

Senator Spotlight: Jonathan Malloy

Jonathan Malloy is professor of political science and the Honourable Dick and Ruth Bell Chair in Canadian Parliamentary Democracy at Carleton University, where he also serves as Associate Dean (Research and Graduate) in the Faculty of Public Affairs. He is a past-president of the Canadian Study of Parliament Group and served for six years as chair of his department. Educated at the University of Waterloo, Queen’s University, and the University of Toronto, he has been a Fulbright chair at Duke University and a visiting scholar at the Australian National University. A tentative date of December 15, 2023 is in place should a meeting before the New Year be required. Resumption of Senate meetings is January 26, 2024 at 2 pm.
