Julie McCarroll holds an MA in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies from Carleton University. She currently researches how various technologies can motivate and engage learners to achieve learning outcomes. Julie received a Research Innovation Grant from Carleton University in 2018 for her research on ePortfolios. She also received a teaching award from Carleton in 2018 and was the recipient of a Favourite Faculty Award in 2021. In 2023, Julie was awarded the Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award.
