Congratulations to staff from the EDC, CCS and library, who were named the team winners of the 2012 Service Excellence Awards on Thursday, February 28.
The Learning Management System is Carleton’s most used web application. Every day, nearly every student logs into the system and 50 per cent of all faculty members and contract instructors use the system extensively. The LMS team works with great care and passion to support the university’s move from WebCT to cuLearn. It is responsible for designing, installing, and configuring the new system as well as extracting all the teaching and learning materials from the old system (WebCT), developing extensive support documentation, and training the teaching and learning community to use the new system.
On a daily basis this team clearly demonstrates all of the Service Excellence criteria. Whether it is team members working with a contract instructor after hours to help them get ready for the start of term, working to squash bugs, or helping a teaching assistant post grades in the new cuLearn gradebook, the team strives to provide the best possible experience and service.
The impact that this team has had on individuals around campus cannot be understated. They are enablers and change agents. They allow Carleton’s teaching community to focus on teaching and learning. They visit instructors’ offices and stayed after hours to help. They continually listen, guide and support Carleton’s teaching and learning community. This team enhancesthe reputation of the EDC and has built goodwill and further strengthens the value and professionalism of the EDC in the eyes of the Carleton community.
