If you have ever driven down a major 400 highway in Ontario, you have probably noticed MTO’s versatile overpass signs that provide drivers with useful information on upcoming traffic routes, safe driving messages, and even Amber Alerts. Although rudimentary, the intent is to make our roads and communities safer.
Korean technology manufacturer Samsung has come up with its own way of increasing road safety: a ‘see-through’ truck that allows drivers to see oncoming traffic thanks to a wireless camera mounted on the front grill of the cab and a series of large monitors mounted to the back of the trailer. The goal is to reduce accidents by providing drivers an unobstructed view of what’s in front of the truck before attempting to overtake it.
CBC News has more on ’see-through’ technology that’s being developed to try to make driving safer.
